Flowers vanilla

Author 'Hiedra98' (Id 99288 ) : It is the flowering season of vanilla. To produce them, he must "marry" the flowers because the insect pollinator does not live outside of Central America. To do this, with a small sharp stick, it should flatten the pollen-bearing anthers on the stigma as well to raise the small part that closes it. What I do every morning in my small garden vanilla plantations, early because the flower bloomed in the morning has faded in the evening. Edmond Albius thank you to the slave meetings in 1841 discovered the process. The pods will mature in 9 months, then it will scald them, dry them and wait several months for the aroma develops.

Excellent lesson in nature. It's great your totally ignorant about how to cultivate vanilla. The flower looks like an orchid. How do you recognize the male flower to female flower: 14:: 1:

Of course, Vivianor, vanilla is an orchid and is a vine that climbs endlessly through his roots-spikes. Therefore it is the channel on tutors by making up and down, etc.. The flower is hermaphrodite and has both a pollen-bearing anther and a pistil where the stigma opens unfortunately closed by a small component. Without bee pollination Mexico, we must attend to its fertilization.

Thank you, Marcel, you are the best retoucher in the west ... Europe, for sparing my photo flower vanilla. As you were interested in the comments, I commend a layer. The genus Vanilla includes more than one hundred species of which only three are grown. Planifolia (or fragrans) in Reunion and Indian Ocean, pompoms in America and the Caribbean, Tahiti tahitensis. Here is planifolia and some tahitensis. If culture and the "wedding" flowers are easy, the preparation of pods requires great care and expertise. I publish on the subject when they are ripe in August next.
