Author 'Ninik' (Id 123704 ) : Het Steen is a part of an ancient fortified castle located on the right bank of the Scheldt in Antwerp. This building, the oldest of Antwerp, was built around 1200-1225 and was then called Castle of Antwerp. Around 1520, at the time of Charles V, the castle was converted and baptized 's Heeren Steen. The building was used as a prison until 1827, which was already the case in 1303. Most of the castle was demolished in the 19th century during the reorganization of docks and the expansion of the Scheldt. The remaining portion was called Het Steen. Since 1952, Steen houses the National Museum of Marine, known for its extensive collection of ship models, paintings, nautical instruments, photos and archival material.

Judy thank you for putting this photo from your favorites. In addition to their ornamental value, these flowers have allowed me to hide from visitors.

+: What a beautiful castle I'd like to visit. You present us superbly well framed and very clear on a beautiful blue sky with clouds white.

-:Little detail of little importance, but despite the difficulty I would have seen dabbing the panel that protrudes from the massive flower on the left of the image.
