Our Green Woodpecker...

Author 'Patdemabaro' (Id 203438 ) : This is a couple who must live not too far from us, as they pass from time to time in our garden... There he was alone, searching for worms in the soil. No sun, but enough light still to be able to print...
Lens : Nikon ED Nikkor 500mm 1:4 P (is not in the list of FEI) not AF, but that gives good results all the same...

The eye and the colors of the plumage of the green woodpecker are very clear. His posture in the grass in soft colours is ideal to admire it. Congratulations and thank you Patdemabaro. What do you become ?

Intrigued by this bird that pecked in my garden I managed to photograph it as it stayed a few minutes. I then searched on the internet and I recognized this beautiful bird that was meant to hit the trunks of trees, but that is very rarely seen. Proud of the photo that I have taken, and especially happy to have been able to observe it. the
Reply of the Moderator: It would be very interesting to show us the photo, right ?

> Ninik [G] [P] [C] [F] >Reply Jan 22, 2014
What a beautiful bird. How lucky you got to see him make stops in your garden.

> Géna [G] [P] [C] [B] [F] >Reply Jan 22, 2014
The dominant is in relation to that which surrounds the subject. And like here is the grass, so it is normal that it is green.

Thank you for this superb photo of a green woodpecker Patrice.

TB, given the difficulty of the shot we can just enjoy this beautiful photo, sharp and well framed. Patrice. Me which bothers me a little is the slight green dominant. I allows me to do a touch-up that I post.

Hello Fernand, speaking of dominant, I think she seems to be in function of what surrounds the subject. Is it also your opinion ?

Nanou, in response to your question, I would say that of course according to the time of the shooting, the light was reflecting off the green grass that surrounds the bird, and therefore brings a green dominant. But the question is not there, the dominant exists and we can remove it or mitigate it.

Not always easy to print and the green woodpecker !!! Here the outlet is good, bravo. (Note TB) Jean-Mi.

> Evie [G] [P] [C] [F] >Reply Jan 20, 2014
It has a blue next to the green woodpecker ! I do not believe that there is dfférence between the male and the female point of view, plumage, or the same size I think... In any case, that one was greedy, the earth is generous and it is easy to keep, provided it gratifies us not often a presence quiète that would allow the print to feel comfortable, ah, canaillou, always moving ! It is a beautiful shot, bravo monminou ! I like your framing...

It is true that we often see on the ground in the gardens and especially the days of grey, which does not facilitate the task.
Good sharpness and good record with your 500mm is very useful for the animal pictures.
(TB).

3 kg of good material, the goal is known but hard to tame...

It is not easy to photograph birds with beautiful colours, even if we hear them and even if they are present. Beautiful bird, well done.

> Isabelle S.B [G] [P] [C] [F] >Reply Jan 19, 2014
A fierce bird, which is not easy to put in the box. In a typical position, the watch, look unhappy here, it is well shot, net, with colors well rendered (TB).

> Louise [G] [P] [C] [F] >Reply Jan 19, 2014
You're lucky to be able to photograph it. I hear it in the woods, but I don't see it ever.

> Jofu [G] [P] [C] [F] >Reply Jan 19, 2014
He knew how to dress properly in order to be in harmony with the environment . It looks like he is a little worried, perhaps because it is not on a tree. Beautiful colors for all .

> Francis-Sisco [G] [P] [C] [B] [F] >Reply Jan 19, 2014
I haven't yet put in a box... of course, I don't have a garden

> Gipsy34 [G] [P] [C] [B] [F] >Reply Jan 19, 2014
It is beautiful this bird with nice colors. It would have almost been able to be confused with the lawn. Thank You Pat.
