Author 'Boucher Marc dit de Meilh' (Id 199504 ) : Old Lyon. Place Saint-Jean in the 5th arrondissement of Lyon. It is the place of the Old Lyon and the Forecourt of the Primatial Saint-Jean. (It is important not to confuse this Place with the place Neuve St-Jean located between rue St-Jean, and Beef.) The Place Saint-Jean in 1794 was called : 'Place of the temple of Reason' (Nice title, I think.) Also, note the beautiful Fountain St-Jean established in 1844 and designed by René Dardel (1796-1871) architect lyonnais. This Place, the fountain, the district, the Vieux Lyon ; the whole is classified since 1988 a Unesco World Heritage site. Ph : Marc de Meilhan Butcher.
