C'est en 1962 que cet édifice prit le titre de "Cathédrale St-Michel". Au 9ème siècle, il existait probablement à cet endroit une chapelle dédiée à Saint Michel. Au 11ème siècle elle fut remplacée par une église romane qui prit en 1047 le nom de «collégiale». Les reliques de Ste Gudule y furent déposées et l'église prit le nom de "Collégiale de St Michel et Ste Gudule". Lors de sa restauration de 1982 à 1999, on découvrit les vestiges de l' église romane ainsi que la crypte romane située sous le choeur actuel.
In 1962 the building took the title of "Cathedral St-Michel." In the 9th century, there were probably there a chapel dedicated to Saint Michel. In the 11th century it was replaced by a Romanesque church in 1047 who took the name from "college". The relics of St Gudula were filed and the church became known as "Collegiate of St Michael and St Gudula. During its restoration from 1982 to 1999, discovered the remains of the Roman church and the Romanesque crypt beneath the choir today.

Pigeon Cpf. 118 -- Quoi de plus banal, que de trouver des pigeons autour des églises. Celui-ci avait pris la pose sur un bord de la collégiale St Guidon à Anderlecht (B) que je vous ai montrée il y a un jour ou deux. Il n'était pas farouche et m'a laissée l'approcher d'assez près et faire son portrait avant de s'envoler.
Pigeon Cpf. 118 - What could be more banal than finding pigeons around churches. It took laying on one side of the collegiate St Guidon in Anderlecht (B) that I've shown there is a day or two. He was not bitter and left me approach closely enough and do his portrait before departing.

Anderlecht (1070 Bruxelles) Maison d'Erasme Cpf. 114 --
Cette maison en briques rouges, de style gothique, dont on voit ici l'arrière, est située à moins de 100m derrière la collégiale St Guidon.
Erasme, humaniste chrétien, y séjourna souvent entre 1517 et 1521 mais n'en était pas propriétaire. Il y rencontra de nombreux érudits et y rédigea 22 épîtres. Dans ce musée, on trouve de nombreux documents dont je vous parlerai à l'occasion d'une autre photo. De l'une de ses oeuvres les plus connues, "L'éloge de la folie" sont exposées les premières éditions (Strasbourg 1521).
Anderlecht (1070 Brussels) Erasmus house Cpf. 114 - The red-brick house, built in Gothic style, which we see here the rear, is located less than 100m behind the collegiate St Guidon. Erasmus, a Christian humanist, often stayed between 1517 and 1521 but did not own. There he met many scholars and wrote 22 letters. In this museum, there are many documents which I will speak to you at another photo. In one of its best-known works, "The Praise of madness" are exposed first editions (Strasbourg 1521).

Anderlecht (Belgique) collégiale St Guidon - Cpf. 110 -- Anderlecht, au S. O. De Bruxelles, est l'une des 19 communes de l'agglomération bruxelloise, et bien connue pour son équipe de football, dont je suis supporter, car c'est mon lieu de naissance. Elle compte plus de 95. 000 habitants et la première mention connue de son nom remonte à 1047.
La belle collégiale St Guidon fut d'abord construite en style roman (il en reste des vestiges dans la crypte) mais elle fut reconstruite sur l'ancien bâtiment, en style gothique cette fois, entre 1350 et 1527. La tour fut érigée de 1506 à 1545 mais la flèche ne fut érigée qu'à la fin du 19èS (1898).
St Guidon fait partie intégrante de la vie anderlechtoise. Le mardi après sa fête (12 septembre) il y a un énorme marché annuel. Il est même sur les armoiries communales.
